Si Cristo mismo ang nagtatag ng Simbahan Sinabi ni Jesus kay Pedro: “Ikaw ay Pedro, at sa ibabaw ng batong ito ay itatayo ko ang aking Simbahan.” (Mateo 16:18) Mahalaga ang salitang “aking Simbahan” —si Cristo mismo ang nagsabing Siya ang magtatatag nito. 2. Itinatag Niya ang pamumuno ng mga Apostol Pinili ni Jesus ang Labindalawang Apostol at binigyan sila ng awtoridad: “Ang makinig sa inyo ay nakikinig sa akin.” (Lucas 10:16) Si San Pedro ang binigyan ng natatanging tungkulin bilang pinuno (ang “susì ng kaharian”), na siyang pinagmulan ng Papacy sa Simbahang Katolika. 3.
